Dear Editor,
The people of Basohli constituency In general and that of Basohli town and its adjoining villages in particular are indebted to Late Jen. Mufti Sahib Ex. Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir for the love, affection and the concern he exhibited for them during short period he adorned the chair of Chief Minister of the state. He was, perhaps, the first Chief Minister who paid six consecutive visits to Basohli during his short tenure. Beside upgrading Basohli Hr. Sec. School to Model one, sanctioning national level stadium and constituting an independent Development Authority for Basohli he snctioned one B.Sc. Nursing college for the aspirant youth of Basohli, Bani and Billawer tehisils living in the remotest and the in accessible terrains of these trio tehsils. It was decided by the Health department to house the newly sanctioned Nursing College in the building vacated after the shifting of the hospital to the newly constructed building of CHC at Basohli. The vacated hospital building was spread over vast enclosed land around with 30 rooms having fully glazed floor and wall tiles. The building, with its infrastructure was found fit in all respects to house the sanctioned Nursing college. In order to make it more spacious for the future requirements of the college and to give it more charming and the attractive look more rooms were constructed and the face of the old building was lifted. The building for the said college stands ready in every respect since long to run the college without any hitch. The admissions for the different B.Sc. Nursing courses were scheduled to take place in the month of April-June 2016 but, as the ill luck would have it, before the College could start functioning at Basohli, a place of eye sore, it was butchered on the altar of inter constituency, inter politician and inter legislature rivalry. It is learnt that the said sanctioned college for Basohli has been hijacked by some MLA or by the influential politician to his own College in the state because it is universally known that the maximum money yielding professional colleges in the state are run either by our in the chair MLas, MLcs and Ministers or by the retired one’s. It is just like the law , might is right, the law of primitives, which doesn’t suit to the democratic set of governments. snatching the right of the needy and the neglected masses tantamount to the jungle rule. It is therefore prayed before Moht. Mehbooba Mufti hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir to intervene in the matter and help restore the B.Sc. nursing college to its legitimate claimants for whom it was sanctioned by Mufti Mohammad Sayed.
