‘Illegal’ stay of foreign refugees raise eyebrows in Jammu
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: A mysterious fire that broke out in the slums of Narwal grabbed headlines for so many days but what didn’t get any attention was the identity of these slum dwellers.
During investigation, it has come to fore that the majority of slums were built by Rohingya nationals from Myanmar, who were having a comfortable stay there for the last so many years. The investigation has also revealed that these Rohingyas were also getting financial help allegedly from external support of some political forums.
What is ironical is that fact that the security and intelligence agencies didn’t take their ‘illegal’ stay, as alleged by a right-wing organisaton, in the sensitive state of Jammu & Kashmir seriously and allowed them to openly pose potential threat to the safety and security of the winter capital.
Recently, the top leadership of Jammu & Kashmir Vishwa Hindu Parishad had slammed the state government for turning a blind eye towards the unlawful stay of these Rohingyas in many locations around the city. They further alleged that an atmosphere is being created in Jammu to make the living of local populace difficult and this is just a part of big conspiracy being hatched to force migration of people of Jammu from their own land.
Veteran leader and patron J&K VHP Ramakant Dubey said that Jammu & Kashmir is a sensitive state which is the victim of the internal and external militancy. He further said that the recent attack on army at Nagrota, Samba and other places could not have been done without the local support and hideouts.
