GWALIOR: Chhattisgarh reached a total of 217 for the loss of six wickets against Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing Ranji Trophy game which is being played at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium, Gwalior.
Amandeep Khare (106 runs off 144 balls) stood tall as he scored a scintillating ton to rescue his side after the Jammu and Kashmir pacers dominated the first hour of play.
Chhattisgarh had Ashutosh Singh (41 off 88) and Ajay Mandal (0 off 5) at the crease at stumps while Samiullah Beigh registered a four-for, conceding just 56 runs to put the opposition team in a spot of bother.
Winning the toss, J&K opted to ball first and Beigh quickly responded to his captains’ call as he dismissed both the Chhattisgarh openers, Sahil Gupta (0 off 6 deliveries) and Abhimanyu Chauhan (0 off 11 deliveries) in quick succession.
Anupam Toppo, who walked in at No. 3 provided some resistance before Amir Aziz caught him trapped in his pads. Toppo scored 40 runs from 94 deliveries and also put up a stand of 84 runs for the third
wicket along with Khare. Ashutosh walked in at No. 4 and got some valuable runs on the board, along with Khare at the other end, who was looking very much in control.
