Narkot Akhara lifts overall wrestling championship trophy

REASI: Wrestlers of Narkot Akhara won the overall championship trophy of the Reasi District Indian Style Wrestling Championship organized by Reasi District Indian Style Wrestling Association under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association (JKISWA) at Kalka Akhara, here on Tuesday.
The championship was held under the banner of J&K State Sports Council was concluded at Kalka Akhara Reasi.
The championship was held under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and General Secretary Reasi District Indian Style Wrestling Association Neresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri).
In the championship, forty wrestlers from various Tehisls and Akharas participated in nine weight categories of 35 Kg, 45 Kg, 50 Kg, 55 Kg, 61 Kg, 75 Kg, 85 Kg and + 85 Kg.
Minister of State for Finance, Planning, CAPD, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Nanda was the chief Guest who presented medals and certificates to the winner and runners-up wrestlers in presence of Guests of Honour, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Bansi Lal Tadyal retd Tehsildar and General Secretary of State Wrestling Association.
Mulkh Raj N.I.S Wrestling coach and chairman technical committee of J&K State Wrestling Association and Ashok Singh conducted the proceeding of the event, while welcome address was presented by associate Vice President wrestling Federation of India Shiv kumar Sharma and vote of thanks was presented by General Secretary of
Reasi District Wrestling Association Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri).
The bouts were officiated by Prem Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Bansi Lal Tidyal, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Suram Singh, Deeraj Kesar, Ramnik Nowadha, Tony Shah, Kesari Singh Sarpanch, Nadeem, Ashok Singh, Capt. Lehar Singh (Retd.), and Pahelwan Karam Deen.
The minister advocated for providing better facilities to the budding sports persons and lavished praise on young wrestlers. He said that the need is to spot and explore it by providing better facilities to the budding sports person.
The minister was accompanied by social Activist, Executive Member State BJP Shed Magotra and another Executive Member, Prominent citizen Chain Singh.

67 Kg: Surjeet Singh (Narkote) 1st, Madan Singh (Lamsora) 2nd and Anil Kumar (Reasi) and Jodh Singh (Narkote), joint 3rd. 75 Kg: Balwan Singh (Narkote) 1st, Ajay Singh 2nd and Veer Singh and Puran Singh, joint 3rd. 85 Kg: Liaqat Ali (Panthal) 1st, Hoshijar Singh (Narkote) 2nd and Sunny Kumar Sharma (Reasi) 3rd. +85 Kg: Har Singh (Katra) 1st, Deepak Sharma (Reasi) 2nd and Sumit Sharma (Gadal) 3rd.
