Centre should clarify stand on one-time settlement package: PoJK Refugee Front

JAMMU: Welcoming the Financial Package of Rs. 2,000 crore announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for disbursement among the DPs, Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir Refugee Front-1947, 1965, 1971, however, requested the chairman of the State Sub-Committee and Ministry of Home Affairs to clarify the amount of the compensation sanctioned by the Government of India for each family.
“The Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committees has recommended Rs. 30 lakh for each family as there is no clarity about the maximum compensation amount to be paid to each family of the DPs,” President of the Front, Rachhpal Singh Chib said while addressing the gathering at a protest, here on Monday.
The Front demanded a comprehensive package as one time settlement package which comprises of compensation Rs 30 lakh to each DP Front, inclusion of 24 Assembly seats in the State Assembly and reservation of these seats to the DPs of 1947, 1965, 1971, quota of 5% seats in the professional institutions in the state and other states of India on the pattern of Kashmiri Pandits and 5% reservation quota in government service.
