JAMMU: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) in its core group meeting held at Jammu on Thursday hailed the efforts of State Coalition particularly the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for ensuring release of Rs. 2,000 crore package for DPs of 1947 and other categories which was awaited since 7th November, 2015. The members urged upon Mehbooba Mufti to prepare a roadmap to resolve the issue through one time settlement as recommended by JPC and assured to the JKSAC deputation in the meeting held with her on 19th November, 2016.
Gurdev Singh President JKSAC along with Netar Parkash also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing the package. Gurdev Singh said that this amount is a part of one time package and is acceptable as first instalment thereof. He said that DPs are still confused that despite of several representations and meetings with State and Central government higher ups, the shape and nature of the package has not been clarified yet. The most important component of the package of reservation for the wards of DPs recommended by Omar Abdullah government as well as by JPC, is missing, he added.
Cautioning PoK refugees not give any undertaking that this relief is part of one time settlement, he alleged that this sort of declaration sought by revenue department is uncalled for and is against the decision taken in the meeting with ADC on 24th March, 2016. He urged upon the coalition govt. to take up the issue seriously and prepare a comprehensive road map taking into account all the components. Those present in the meeting include Master Yograj, Mukesh Sharma, Harbans Singh, Rajesh Khajuria, Dwarka Nath, Balbir Singh, Madan Sharma and Makhan Singh.
