JAMMU: Scores of aspiring unemployed youth of physical education on Thursday protested here to highlight their demand of implementation of long-pending Rehbar-e-Khel scheme in the State which has already been passed by the Cabinet in 2005.
Protesting under the banner of J and K Unemployed Physical Education and Sports Associations (JKUPESA), the youth demanded an explanation from the authorities on why implementation of the scheme has been pending since 2005.
They urged the authorities to implement the policy under which physical education should be made compulsory in all middle, high and higher secondary schools in the State.
Chief Spokesperson and Advisor JKUPESA Firdous Hussain said that Sports Minister Molvi Imran Raza Ansari in 2015 issued order to made Physical education and sports as compulsory subject from class 6-8. “However, till date the order has not been implemented,” General Secretary Showkat Khan said. They requested Chief Minister to implement Rehbar-i-Khel Scheme in State to save future of near about 8000 youth of state.
