BJP leader booked for rape in Kishtwar, still at large

KISHTWAR: Police booked a BJP leader in Distt-Kishtwar on raping and blackmailing charges.
According to reports, Kishtwar Police received a complainant from a woman, who is the mother of four children including three daughters alleging that one Bindu Kumar (35), a local influential BJP leader, son of Prem Nath resident of Village Wahan Razna in Palmar area of Kishtwar District had committed rape on her and clicked objectionable photographs with an aim to blackmail her and force her not to raise the voice.
According to reliable sources, the accused being a local was known to the 34 year-old victim who lured the victim and committed rape on her. The accused is also married and is father of three children including two son and a daughter.
The sources said that the victim did not reveal the incident to her family members fearing threat to her life and the security of the three minor daughters from the influential leader added that when the accused tried to blackmail her, she took the courage to divulge the incident to one of her family members, who approached the police for registration of an FIR against the accused person.
While talking to Media persons, one of the close relative of victim said “accuse tried all his resources by using both pressure tactics as well as the political approach to silence the victim and her family, but failed to do so”.
An FIR Number 206/2016 U/S 376 RPC has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accuse who is still at large. When contacted senior police officers confirmed the registration of FIR against BJP leader. “Justice will be done with the victim lady without succumbing to any political pressure,” a senior Officer said.
