DSS resents shifting of archives to Kala Kendra

JAMMU: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) strongly resented the decision of shifting the archives and other monuments from Mubarak Mandi to Kala Kendra.
In the meeting held here on Tuesday, President DSS, Th. Gulchain Singh Charak felt that the appointed committee has not taken vital aspects in consideration and thus not applied full mind on this most important matter of the Dogra heritage. They further said that the Kala Kendra is not a suitable place for the Archives and other monuments due to various reasons.
The Sabha expressed its deep concern on delay in removal of barriers in front of the Civil Secretariat on the road leading to Ranbireshwar and Raghunath Temples form Dogra Hall despite repeated appeals to the government.
Emphasizing importance of preserving the rich Dogra culture, the meeting decided to organise an exhibition in the complex of Dogra Sadar Sabha in near future. The exhibition will represent a holistic picture of various historic monuments falling in different parts of Jammu region. The Sabha emphasized the urgent need of maintaining its ancient, pristine, secular character which is a living example of pluralistic society in the country. The Sabha also decided to hold a Dogra Pagri Tying competition on 3rd of December, 2016 in the premises of Dogra Sadar Sabha. Charak appealed to all Dogras especially youth to come forward and participate in the competition to be followed by a ‘Preeti Bhoj’.
The meeting was attended by Prem Sagar Gupta, Santosh Magotra, Chhatter Singh, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Chhankar Singh, Ashok Kumar Gupta, Madan Rangila, Rajeev Kumar, Kulbir Singh, Syed Amanat Ali Shah, Prof Mohammad Ayyub, Col. Karan Singh, Parshotam Thapa, Ravi Singh Slathia, J.S Mangal and Kulwant Singh.
