Cartoonists portray demonetisation critics in bad light

JAMMU: On a day when Congress leaders across India came out on the streets to stage protest demonstrations highlighting the plight of common masses in the wake of demonetisation drive banning Rs 500, Rs 1000 currency notes, a group of cartoonists got together and exhibited their cartoons highlighting different shades and moods of ‘Aam Aadmi’.
Different moods of Aam Aadmi, politicians and other sections of society were depicted by the cartoonists in their choicest cartoons.
Politicians, especially those opposing the drive against black money, were targeted by all the cartoonists in their presentations. Exposing their (politicians) vested interest, these cartoonists largely supported the demonetisation drive and highlighted the plight of black sheep.
The two days long exhibition titled, ‘Cartoons on demonetisation’ was organised in collaboration with Care Nature and Environment.
Speaker of the J&K Assembly Kavinder Gupta along with MoS Education Priya Sethi inaugurated the exhibition at Kala Kendra, Jammu.
The works from noted cartoonist Manoj Chopra, Chander Shekhar and Raj Bhagat of Jammu besides Manoj Kureel from Delhi and Mika Aziz from Kolkata were showcased in the exhibition.
Kavinder Gupta said that the efforts of these young artists through exhibitions like this help articulate the society towards right perspective.
Priya Sethi said that the hard work of these promising cartoonists will help spread the message of Anti Corruption movement among masses.
Vice President State BJP, Yudhvir Sethi was also present.
A large number of people came to witness the event and appreciated the depth of art work and apt presentation of the issue through variety of illustrations, caricatures and cartoons.
