LEH: The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo gave away the prizes to the students and schools who participated in various activities of Swatch Bharat Abhiyan 2016 at Sotsawa Rinchen Auditorium Hall Culture Academy, Leh.
Addressing the prize distribution programme organized by Rural Development Department Leh, CEC Dr. Dawa congratulated citizens of Leh district including all the 93 Panchayat Halqas, schools, students, different departments, NGOs and staff members of Rural Development Department and Municipal Committee Leh for making the Swatch Bharat Abhiyan 2016 a grand success in entire Ladakh adding that we are very lucky to begin the cleanliness drive with the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the month of August, 2016 which later spread across Ladakh.
Highlighting the significant role of rural department in development of rural villages, Dr. Dawa said that rural department is known for their efficacy in providing quality service with least funds. Speaking high about the commendable job of Rural Development Department and Municipal Committee Leh in conducting the Swatch Bharat Abhiyan in most organized way in entire Ladakh, CEC Dr. Dawa appreciated the dedicated works of all the staffs of Rural Dev. Dept. and Municipal Committee Leh headed by ACD, Leh Tsering Paldan and Administrator MC Leh Dr. Zaida Bano.
Held in the month of Sept. 2016, in panting competition, Stanzin Dojrey of Lamdon Senior Secondary School Leh bagged first while as Yangchen Dolker of JNV Leh and Zilder Hussain of Imammia Mission School Chushot bagged second and third position respectively. In speech competition, Jigmet Rinchen of Polytechnic College Leh bagged first position while as Sonam Diskit of Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh and Gen Tashi Wangchuk of CIBS Choglamsar scored second and third positions respectively.
In the play category, Government Higher Secondary School Chushot stood first while as Lamdon Senior Secondary School Leh and High School Sumoor Nubra clinched second and third positions.
Sponsored by Municipal Committee Leh, the individual winners were given laptops and schools were awarded projectors as prize.
The District Panchyat Officer Leh Sonam Chosjor gave the welcome speech while as BDO, Leh Tsering Angchuk gave vote of thanks.
Other present on the occasion were Executive Councilor for Animal and Sheep Mumtaz Hussain, Councilor Igoo Tsering Paldan, Councilor Khaltsi Lobzang Sherap, Administrator MC Leh Dr. Zaida Bano, ACD Leh Tsering Paldan and BDOs.
