JAMMU: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Wednesday intensified drive against illegal Rehris and Pharis causing traffic congestion and obstructing free movement of pedestrians on footpaths.
On the instructions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the revenue team of JMC led by Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), Subah Mehta conducted drive in various areas of Jammu City viz Panama Chowk, Gandhi Nagar and Bahu Plaza Road. The team lifted 10 numbers of illegal Rehris plying on the main roads causing traffic congestion and seized three trucks load of material placed outside the shops.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation appealed to Rehri owners to ply their Rehris only after obtaining proper Rehri licence from Jammu Municipal Corporation and also to the shopkeepers not to display their belongings on the footpaths and cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation in making Jammu a smart and traffic free city.
