Enhance withdrawal limit for industries: BBIA

JAMMU: Suresh Kumar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Government of India visited Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) Bhawan and discussed the problems being faced by the industrial sector of J and K due to limited cash withdrawal limit of Rs 50,000 per week.
T.K Bhat, Additional Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department, Ravinder Sharma SDM Vijaypur and Shaillo Ram Tehsildar Bari Brahmana were also present.
While appreciating the bold step taken by our Prime Minister to wipe out the black money from the country, President BBIA, Lalit Mahajan highlighted the problems being faced by the industrial sector of J and K and suggested measures for the kind consideration of Government of India to help for the smooth working of Industrial Units.
Mahajan demanded that the cash withdrawal limit for the industrial sector should be enhanced to Rs.2,00,000 per week. He maintained that the withdrawal should be allowed for the payment of advance for wages on 15th of every month and payment of wages on 7th of every month on the basis of requirement. The deposit of old notes of Rs.500 and 1000 shall be allowed for the payment of government dues at Lakhanpur Check Post to ease out the problem being faced by the truck drivers keeping in mind the incoming and outgoing of 2,000 trucks per day, he added.
“The Reserve Bank of India should allow the banks including J&K Bank to take old notes of Rs. 500/1000 from industrial units of J and K for the clearance of utility bills of power, water. Extend date for the acceptance of old notes of Rs.500/1000 by the petrol pumps, pharmacy and hospitals till the availability of sufficient new currency with the banks,” he added.
Suresh Kumar assured to forward the suggestions given by the BBIA members to the appropriate authorities for their kind consideration.
