BHOPAL: Bharat Bhawan, Ministry of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh, organised ‘Jammu Kashmir Mahotsav’- a festival of, literary and performing arts of Jammu and Kashmir at the majestic Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal.
The festival opened yesterday with the mesmerising ‘Santoor Recital’ by one of the most celebrated artist of the State Padam Vhivushan Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and will close with Balwant Thakur’s Internationally acclaimed Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ on 23rd of November, 2016.
Following Santoor Recital, the programme ‘Celebrating Diversity’ which rocked London recently also took the festival’s enthusiasm to the ultimate heights with highly professional dance performances featuring Kashmiri, Dogri, Ladakhi, Gojri, Pahari and Bhadarwahi Dances.
In the literary segment, the Bharat Bhawan organisers are organising a composite poetic session featuring Padma Sachdev (Dogri), Prof Rehmaan Rahi (Kashmiri), Tashi Rabgias (Ladakhi), Agnishekhar (Hindi), Vidya Rattan Aasi (Urdu), and Vijay Thakur (Dogri/Urdu).
From Kashmir Rashid Hafiz and Gulzaar Ganai will present the traditional Kashmiri music segment. Bhakh Singers Krishna Kumari and Aasha Kesar will represent Jammu region in this prestigious festival. In traditional theatre, the Kashmir Bhagat Theatre, Akinggaam will present their popular ‘Shrkaargah’. Traditional Kud of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Hills being presented by Krishan Singh and Party will be yet another attraction of this festival.
