DGP visits border areas, reviews security

JAMMU: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, on Thursday visited border areas of Jammu to review security situation in the forward belts affected by Pakistani shelling. He was briefed about the border situation by the officers of JKP and BSF.
Accompanied by IGP, Jammu Zone, Danesh Rana and SP Rural Jammu, Arun Gupta, the DGP visited Old Kana Chak, Sohan Post, Bali Azmat post, Gol Patan, Tali-post and other forward posts.
The officers of JKP and BSF briefed him about the prevailing situation and security arrangements put in place for protection of the people and check suspicious movement. He stressed upon the officers working in border areas to provide all possible help to the locals.
Rajendra also visited Jhiri, where annual Mela is going on and interacted with the visitors. He gave instructions to the officers for making fool proof security arrangements so that the people visiting he venue do not face any inconvenience during the Mela days.
Meanwhile, during his visit to border areas, he interacted with the affected people and took stock of the security measures made in the area. He assured the people that every possible help with regard to their security would be assured.
After assessing the situation, Rajendra asked the police and BSF personnel to synergies their efforts and fully ensure the safety and security of the local population.
Later, the DGP chaired an officers meeting at Akhnoor and reviewed the security arrangements for border areas and ongoing Jirhi Mela. He stressed upon them to work in close coordination with other security agencies and ensure safety and security of the people.
