Court stays interviews by Sports Council

JAMMU: The recruitment process by the J and K State Sports Council, interviews for which are scheduled to be held from 21st November at Sports House, MA Stadium, here, has been stayed by the State High Court through an interim order issued at Srinagar yesterday.
In his stay order, Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey said that the petitions, who claim to working as Ground Incharge, Assistant Store Keeper and Assistant Electrician, were a worried lot in view of the recent advertisement notice by the State Sports Council inviting candidates for interviews for the same posts. So there legitimate right needs to be protected, the order mentioned.
Order further reads: The petitioners, Mohammad Amin Malik and others were working as daily rated workers/time scale employees in the Sports Council and came to be regularised in terms of various orders as Class IV. In view of stagnation on the posts, on which they were regularised, the respondent Council re-designated them as Ground Incharge, Assistant Store Keeper and Assistant Electricians in terms of Sports Council Order No. 403 of 2016 and 404 of 2016, both dated 17th June, 2016.
Important to mention here that the State Sports Council had invited applications for different posts and those shortlisted candidates have been called for the final selection through interviews to be conducted from 21st November at Jammu.
It has been reliably learnt that the same recruitment process has already been stayed by some individuals through a similar order issued by the High Court at Jammu.
