Ramnagar craves for development: Harsh
STATE TIMES NEWS
RAMNAGAR: Ridiculing the slogans of ‘development’, ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ and ‘Achhe Din’ given by Central and State Government, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman and former Minister, expressed grave concern over the pathetic plight of the people inhabiting the hilly and far flung areas of the State.
He said that during his tour of the remote areas of the Ramnagar constituency to take stock of the burning problems faced by the people, he discovered that the poor, indigent, deprived people were left at the mercy of God not only by the local administration but by the elected representatives as well. He was addressing a public Rally at Ramnagar town on Thursday.
Singh came down heavily on the government for stalled development in Ramnagar resulting in widespread public resentment. He said that while no new developmental project had been initiated in the constituency during the last two years, the on-going schemes had come to a grinding halt. Making a particular mention of the university satellite campus at Dalsar Ramnagar whose 90 per cent construction work had been completed by 2014, he regretted the abandonment of the project immediately after the change of guard. He said that similar was the fate of Krishi Vigya Kendra (KVK) sanctioned for Ramnagar under the aegis of Agricultural University during 2013 and ITI approved for Ramnagar during the same period with no action taken during the last two years to operationalize the same.
Expressing grave concern over the deplorable plight of pot-holed and bumpy roads in various villages desperately crying for repairs, Singh lamented non initiation of any action for renovation of the same. He regretted that while the PWD Depts official had expressed inability to effect the major repairs due to funds constraints, the incumbent leadership had utterly failed to project the issue before the concerned authorities.
Maintaining that funds were never a problem during his tenure, Harsh claimed that he had got sanctioned the highest number of development projects including roads and bridges for his constituency as compared to all others constituencies of the State. He however assured the public to agitate the matter of dilapidated road network before concerned authorities and to get the construction and repair works initiated at the earliest especially with regard to Ramnagar-Chowki road, Ramnagar-Basantgarh road, Rang Blhand and Bainsta Pinger roads besides Tagan-Sattian roads.
Commenting upon the degeneration in the power sector, Harsh expressed serious concern over the huge un-scheduled cuts, extremely low voltage problem and non repairs of transformers damaged for several weeks. He said that in-ordinate delay in installation of several transformers including HT/LT lines due to non tendering of same during the last two years had resulted in great inconvenience to the people.
He called for early installation of four 100 transformers in Ramnagar town that were sanctioned around two years back.
Accusing the CAPD Department of creating artificial scarcity of ration in the constituency, Singh sought a thorough probe into the working of the said department. He called upon Rural Development Department for ensuring early clearance of liabilities of workers under MG-NREGA and to further check the abuse and misappropriation of funds under 14th Finance commission awards. He said that the omission and commissions in PHE Department would be duly brought before the notice of concerned authorities and a probe sought into the same.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Pt. Shiv Ram Sharma, Dev Singh, Sagar Dev, Gian Chand, Capt. Vijay Singh, Pushpinder, Akash Kharka, Uttam Singh, Charan Dass, Sandoor Singh, Mohd Farooq and Babu Ram.
