Tara Chand slams BJP for ignoring border residents

KHOUR: Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand lashed out at the BJP Government at the Centre and the Coalition Government in the State for their failure on all fronts as a result different sections of the society are agitating and suffering.
He expressed grave concern over the border situation which has caused numerous sufferings to the border residents and demanded adequate relief and rehabilitation measures for them. Tara Chand also expressed anguish against for State and Central government for its non serious approach inadequately providing compensation victims in firing and shelling by Pak troops from across the International Border and Line of Control. They demanded that a plot of 10 Marlas be provided to the border migrants for constructing their hutments, besides adequate compensation up to Rs.10 lakh in case of dead and Rs.2 lakh in case of the injured.
Later addressing the gathering, former Dy. Chief Minister criticized the State Administrations for its failure to make fool-proof arrangements for those border villagers who have been uprooted in the recent firing and shelling. He said the children of these border villagers have been affected as their schools have been shut down indefinitely. The Government should have made proper arrangements for accommodation, ration and medicare for these hapless people, he said adding that Centers had not been given any serious thought to its own countrymen (border villagers) who are virtually second line defense for our nation in border areas.Tara Chand also castigated the government for its failure to control price rise of essential commodities, which has caused anger and resentment among the common masses.
Others who addressed the gathering include Balwan Singh, Amolak Singh, Ashok Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Varun Magotra and Suram Singh.
