JAMMU: Giving a blistering response to Union Gover-nment’s ever increasing indifference towards large section of Ex-Servicemen (ESMs) which today took an ugly turn with 65-year old ESM Ram Krishan Grewal of Haryana committing suicide over the issue of One Rank One Pay (OROP), former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand said that the incident has exposed the duplicity of BJP led dispensation at the centre which on one hand is applauding the troops for their unparallel valour and grit but on the other hand is blatantly demeaning the significant role played by the ESMs during their tenure in army. Terming the detention of AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi as arbitrary and unjustified, the senior Congress leader decried the central government for not allowing Rahul Gandhi to meet the family of the deceased.
Questioning the stand of Government over plight of ESMs on OROP, he asked whether the BJP led dispensation is with the troops or against them? He however said that in present case hypocrisy of Government has emerged as never before since it is relying on brave soldiers’ gallantry to give a befitting reply to Pakistan and also taking undue bounty in showcasing it on political fronts but when it comes to the welfare of troops in their second innings, it refuses to budge giving a damn care to their sacrifices and dedication. He also endorsed the stand of Rahul Gandhi and demanded that Government should apologise to the family of deceased
