JAMMU: The J and K Panchayati Raj and Rural Areas Welfare Society (PARAS) registered with the objective to make people aware about the working and functioning of Panchayti Raj Institutions (PRI) in Jammu.
This was stated by the President of the Society, D.P Khajuria in a press conference here on Wednesday.
Achieving the objectives of village uplift and rural development through the Panchayati Raj system by involving the grass root beneficiaries and ensuring adequate understanding knowledge and responsibilities by Panchayat representatives in discharging of the duties assigned to them under the provisions of J&K Panchayati Raj Act and Rules were the other objectives of the society, he said. The Society, he said, has been visiting different population wherein the former Panchs, Sarpanchs and civil society persons of the area were present.
The issues highlighted were pertaining to the basic necessities of the village people particularly power supply, irrigation, rural sanitation, education and marketing of agricultural produce.
