Army flags off trekking expedition

BHADARWAH: Army has a tradition of encouraging the spirit of adventure and has often been a pioneering role model in promoting adventure activities in the country. In keeping with the tradition, Army conducted a Trekking Expedition from Sarna, Bhadarwah to Kishtwar from 1st to 13th November, 2016.
They expedition was flagged off from Sarna, Bhadarwah on Tuesday.
“The army team comprising one officer and ten young soldiers will cover the trek of 200 KM in 14 days encompassing the most treacherous and arduous mountainous areas using modern mountaineering equipments,” Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
The trekking expedition is to learn the customs, flora and fauna and the scope of development in the area, he said adding that it will help to build mental resilience, physical courage of the participants and promote camaraderie and team spirit amongst them.
