Akhilesh says SP believes in serving poor and deprived
Lucknow:- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today cited a recent incident in which he gifted a “rickshaw puller” with a new cycle rickshaw and promised to give him a new house, asserting that his government believes in serving the poor and deprived.
“Paytm’s CEO had to hire a rickshaw to reach my residence to avoid traffic jam recently and on coming to know this I came out to welcome him not because he is a big man but because he gave a chance to a rickshaw puller to enter the CM’s house,” Akhilesh said while speaking at a power department programme here.
On inquiry ,the rickshaw puller Maniram said that he did not own the rickshaw and it was decided that the rickshaw puller will be made owner of his rickshaw.
“We told him that he will return from the CM house on his own rickshaw. By evening when he returned he had his own rickshaw,” he said.
“You can just imagine his happiness and high spirits on dhanteras when he got rickshaw he said that he will go to his native village, 100 kms away with his family on his rickshaw and he celebrated the festival there,” he said.
“This is how samajwadis work. We can give many examples of this kind,” he said, adding that it is not just the Samajwadi Party leaders but also the workers who work in this manner.
“If this is the courage of Maniram you can also imagine the spirit of our partymen and youth who are ready to face the coming elections and make the new government with renewed vigour,” he said.
He asserted that Samajwadi Party will celebrate two diwalis next year.
Claiming that his government has taken great strides in the power sector, Akhilesh said that 24 hours supply has been started in the urban areas from today which will be extended to the rural areas also in the next government.
“This will not give any scope to opposition parties to claim that they will give 24 hours power as we have already made this arrangement,” he added.
