Rajendra reviews CCTN System, stresses on strict implementation

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, reviewed the status of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) in the State and stressed for improvements in the system to achieve desired results of the networking system. Rajendra was chairing a high level meeting convened to take stock of the functioning of CCTNS at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here on Wednesday. He sought reports on the status of the project and progress achieved on the subject. He said that the project has gained much importance in the present times and helps to keep vigil on the unwanted activities and track the offenders. The meeting was informed that out of the 323 commissioned sites 265 sites have been completed and 29 more sites including four newly established women police stations have been added in the project. Efforts are on to complete the project and repair the damaged sites.
Rajendra stressed upon the officers present in the meeting to work together and make the system functional. He asked the officers maintaining the project to gear up the technical staff and make all the sites functional on priority to implement the project within the stipulated period.
IGP Crime, Muneer Ahmad Khan informed the meeting that all police stations are communicated to lodge FIRs through CCTNS. 126 police stations are actively feeding data in offline, online mode.
More than five lakh entries with regard to daily diaries and 20,114 FIRs have been made till September 2016, he added. DGP stressed for sharpening the training skills in crime investigation and detection, saying that acquaintance with latest methods is imperative and more personnel should be imparted training in different fields like data base administration, system administration, CAS customisation and networking. The meeting was attended by Special DG (Coordination/Law and Order), Dr. S.P Vaid, ADGP (Headquarter), V.K Singh, IGP (Tech), H.K Lohia, AIG (Welfare) and Dr. Haseeb Mughal.
