JAMMU: To mitigate the difficulties being faced by the tax payers of Jammu and Kashmir in filing Income Tax (IT) returns and reports of audit for Assessment Year (AY) 2016-2017 by the due date as prescribed under section 139 (1) of Income Tax Act, 1961, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Tuesday extended the date for filing income tax return and reports of audit under the provision of Income Tax Act pertaining to AY 2016-17 for all categories of the tax payers in J&K to December 31, 2016.
