JAMMU: District Rajouri excelled with twin titles of under-14 and under-17 while hosts Jammu District clinched the under-19 trophy in the inter-district divisional level girls kabaddi tournament held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here on Monday.
Earlier, in the under-14 final district Rajouri outplayed district Samba by a margin of 34 (48-14) points. Similarly, in under-17 category, Rajouri girls defeated Jammu 49-34 to make it a twin title win.
However, the under-19 title was won by Jammu girls to salvage some pride. In this senior girls final, Jammu outplayed district Kathua by 33 (51-18) points.
Later, Arti and Sundri of district Rajouri were declared best players in under-14 and under-17 categories respectively while Amritpreet Kour of Jammu was named best player in under-19 group.
The medals were given away to the winners and runners-up teams by District Sports Officer Ramban, Jarpal Singh, who was Organising Secretary of the event in the presence of ZPEO Veer Ji Bhat, Manohar Lal and R.P Kotwal (Warden).
The matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Mir Alam, Tour Kumar, Basharat Khan, Vikram Singh, Subash Chander, Tahir Bhat, Mahesh Khajuria, Shashi Bala, Madhvi Jamwal, Nehrika Sharma, Ajay Tandon, Virender Singh, Ramesh Singh and Vijay Kumar.
