POONCH: Castigating the State Government over its lackadaisical approach in mitigation of the burning issue of pending salaries of teachers under New Pension Scheme (NPS), the teachers under the banner of All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKLTF) threatened to launch a protest after Diwali.
The teachers falling under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) of the School Education Department have been without salaries for the last five months, where as in several zones they have not received their salaries for over 11 months.
The teachers expressed serious concern over unprecedented delay in release of salary.
In a press conference the teachers said “We have not received our salary for the past five months, where as in Sathra and Surankote Zones the teachers have not received their salary of first five months since their appointment in 2014″.
The teachers said that they have to go too far off places to perform their duties but without salary they find many problems even they celebrated many festivals with empty pockets”.
A delegation of teachers also met Yashpal Sharma, Sr PDP leader and MLC and CEO Poonch Ch Lal Hussain and apprised them of their issue but except promises nothing has happened, teachers alleged.
They said that the government should release their pending salaries at earliest so that they may celebrate coming Diwali festival.
Sunil Kumar told that he is the sole bread earner of his family and the government has left his family to face hardships adding that thousands of teachers under New Pension Scheme (NPS) working in difficult conditions braving all odds are reeling under agonising conditions and the people at the helm of affairs have shut their eyes over the plight of the teachers.
The irresponsible decision makers live in cozy offices and nation builders are left to suffer and their families are on the verge of starvation. The teachers appealed to the Chief Minister to look into the matter and redress their genuine grievance at the earliest.
Those present in the meeting included Amarjeet Singh, Paramvir Singh, Devinder Singh, Mohd Iqbal, Ajaz Ahmed, Mohd Riaz and Tahir Akbar.
