NAGROTA: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Sunday assailed the BJP for utterly failing in deliverance, saying the party has lost confidence and mandate of the people of Jammu.
The 2014 euphoria, expectations and fanfare is terribly missing with disdain growing among people due to policy paralysis of the BJP partnered government in Jammu and Kashmir, which is struggling to put its act together after plunging the state into unprecedented political and administrative crisis. Rana said while addressing workers at Kathar in Nagrota Assembly Constituency this evening.
The Provincial President said the people of Jammu are feeling let down and betrayed, as their problems are accumulating with each passing day.
He said the arrogance of power and lack of governance has distanced the BJP from its core constituency, which is hugely realizing the mistake of putting a bunch of agitators into the cradle of administrators. “For over six decades, the BJP had been exploiting the Jammu sentiment by crying hoarse over the so-called discrimination, deprivation and neglect but when it came to delivering, they just raised their hands”, he said, adding that not only the BJP pushed the region to backwards but also turned out as a big obstacle in its development and progress. In this context, he referred to erratic power and water supply, dilapidated condition of main and interior roads, scarcity of rations, deplorable hygienic conditions and fast crumbling administrative apparatus. He referred to protests and strikes of daily rated workers on regular basis and said that while a huge chunk of these people are taking to streets, the general public is suffering on account of utility services. Same is the situation with other segments of employees like teachers and Anganwari workers, who find themselves at the receiving end of NJP’s sadistic behaviour, he added. “Where has that compassion and love of the self-proclaimed Messiahs of Jammu gone”, he asked, saying the promise of Ache Din is turning out as an unending nightmare. He said the dejection among people is so deep that they don’t even want to go to their chosen representatives with complaints and demands.
Rana reminded the BJP of its promises with the people of Jammu in general and the border areas in particular, asking as to what had happened to safe shelters and bunkers which they had claimed would be coming up within months of their government. “The situation is now such that the dislocated border dwellers are being left to fend for themselves”, he said, adding that each sector of development has been affected due to mis-governance and lack of political direction.
Questioning the moral grand-standing of the BJP, the NC Provincial President said that they have nothing to boast about except taking credit for sowing seeds of mistrust between various segments of people in order to further their sinister agenda. He, however, cautioned the BJP not to test the spirit of inclusiveness, saying the people will foil all their machinations by maintaining time tested unity and amity.
During his public interaction, Rana, who represents Nagrota in the Legislative Assembly, exuded confidence that as a result of sustained monitoring and persuasion to the executing agencies, the pace of work on various developmental projects in the Constituency has stepped up and “we hope these to be completed within stipulated time-frame”. He said he is committed to transform Nagrota as a model constituency, given its huge potential as economic and tourism hub in the close vicinity of the capital city. “This vision is to be translated into reality”, he said and expressed his gratitude to the people for keeping him posted with innovative ideas about development and abreast with much needed feedback on the implementation of various schemes.
“Together with the support and guidance of the sagacious people of Nagrota constituency, we will achieve the dream of making it a shinning outskirts of Greater Jammu”, Rana asserted.
