Four int’l wrestlers to take part in 12th Mission-Dosti Dangal

JAMMU: As many as four foreign grapplers apart from Indian wrestlers, including the likes of the Hind Kesari and Bharat Kesari title holder Joginder of Delhi, will be part of the 12th Mission-Dosti International Indian Style Dangal to be held here on 9th October at Shrine Board’s Sports Complex Katra.
The will witness, two grapplers Levan Berip Berianpze and Giorgi Sakandelpze from Georgia, Leon Gregory Rattigan from England and Makhailo Datsenko from Ukraine vying for the title alongside Indian athletes, President of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma, told reporters here on Thursday.
Sharma added that apart from the international athletes, grapplers from Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Services, Railways and the host State of J and K have confirmed their participation for the historic event. To encourage local participation, he added, the wrestlers from rural and far flung areas of the State shall be provided opportunities to display their skills. The renowned wrestlers of J and K include Benia Min, Ishaq Ahmed, Bobri, Farooq, Nissar, Ajay, Babba, Sadiq, Bharat Bushan, Fiza and Amir Khan besides Parvesh and Tejbeer of Harayana, Mohanu of Chattershal Stadium Delhi, Rubaljeet from Khanna and Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla Punjab will display their talent.
The women wrestlers coming from Punjab, Delhi, J and K and Harayana shall fight for titles at the same venue in afternoon, he added. He also said that for final bout prize money in addition to Silver Gurj and Patta has been fixed to the sum of Rs 1,25,000 and for second bout is Rs 1,01,000. Cash prize of Rs 10 lakh has been kept for all other bouts, he added.
He informed that Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Education, Priya Sethi shall be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
