JAMMU: State Vigilance Organisation on Wednesday registered an FIR against the then Senior Town Planner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and others for giving building permission in contravention to approval of Competent Authority in favour of beneficiary Sanjeev Nagpal, resident of Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
SSP Vigilance Shabir Malik said, a Joint Surprise Check (JSC) was conducted by the SVO into the illegal construction on Plot No.100 A/D Gandhi Nagar-Jammu, wherein it was observed that building permission granted by the JMC was in contradiction to the approved site plan.
‘The building permission order was issued as ” Residential Building” instead of renovation / repairs by the then Senior Town Planner (JMC),’ said SSP Malik, adding, “The drawing of proposed repairs / renovation building belonging to Sanjeev Nagpal also certified by Building Officer of JMC was different from the drawing on which order was issued by the Senior Town Planner”.
Further, the present building is a framed structure which in no way appears old construction even in the ground floor. Senior Town Planner had issued the permission order quite contrary to the approval of Competent Authority and also changed the drawing in final permission order in connivance with the beneficiary Sanjeev Nagpal, the SSP said.
These acts of omissions/commission on the part of the then Senior Town Planner, JMC and beneficiary Sanjeev Nagpal and others constitute offences punishable under section 5 (1), (d) read with 5 (2) J&K PC Act Svt. 2006 and Section 120-B RPC. Accordingly FIR 21/16 has been registered and the investigation has been set in motion”, he said, adding that the case has been entrusted to Inspector Rajnish Salathia.
