BSF chief visits border, says deployment increased

Jammu: With Indo-Pak tensions high, BSF has increased deployment and reinforced its technical equipment along the border, its chief K K Sharma said on Wednesday while instructing the force to maintain optimal level of alertness and respond in a befitting manner to any inimical action.
Sharma, who toured the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border, said a Border Action Team (BAT) attack by Pakistan cannot be ruled out and “So we have maintained highest alertness.”
The BSF Director General arrived in Jammu this morning and visited the frontier to take stock of operational preparedness on the IB and LoC in prevailing security scenario, BSF spokesman said.
IG BSF Jammu Frontier D K Upadhyaya gave a detailed briefing on the operational preparedness of the Jammu frontier, the spokesman said, adding various issues were discussed with the field commanders also.
“We have increased the deployment (along IB),” Sharma said, adding “we have reinforced technical equipment along the border”.
The BSF chief instructed the forces to maintain optimum level of alertness and respond in the befitting manner to the adversary, if necessity arises.
He expressed satisfaction about capability and high morale of BSF troops.
Sharma praised the supreme sacrifice made by late constable Nitin Kumar who “exhibited combat audacity and fought valiantly and laid down his life in the line of duty which saved valuable human lives by depriving access to militants entering into BSF campus, Baramulla.”
