Parents staying away, children asked to attend classes
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Late Monday evening, Deputy Commissioner Jammu issued an order to open schools in the border areas except those schools where administration has set up shelter camps for the border migrants.
Interestingly, the same district administration has not declared anything with regard to relocation of displaced population of border areas.
So the question arises whether the decision taken by the Deputy Commissioner to open the schools was taken in haste and under duress or it is just another example of poor administration where on the one hand you are preventing the head of the family from harvesting crop and on the other hand you are telling the same parent to drop your children to school in the border area while the entire family is either staying in a border migrant shelter or at a distant location with their close relatives.
As per the order of Deputy Commissioner Jammu it has further been informed that even in those schools where such camps have been set up, the Principal/School Incharges shall ensure that special classes are conducted for the children of Border migrants who are camping there. Now the question arises if the border migrants are occupying class rooms and other premises in the school the school administration would be left with no other place but the open spaces to hold classes and in the absence of any clarity from the district administration the students studying in these schools are expected to be facing the brunt of the poor decision.
