Director Agriculture reviews functioning of department

JAMMU: Director Agricul-ture, Ashok Kumar Malhotra conducted the first review meeting of the Chief Agriculture Officers and Sectoral Heads of various schemes at Agriculture Complex here.
Malhotra reviewed progress of activities undertaken during Kharif 2016 and the preparedness for supply and stocking of various inputs including seeds and fertilizers for the ensuing Rabi Crop Season to ensure timely stocking of seed. The progress of completion of DPRs on Rajmash, Basmati, Apiculture and Vegetable and other sectors announced by the Government in Doda, Kathua, Ramban, Kishtwar and Jammu districts was reviewed and the Director of Agriculture desired that additional special projects for Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Reasi, Samba also. There was also detailed discussion on Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), and Soil Health Card Scheme. He directed all the Chief Agriculture Officers to develop and maintain the data bank of KCC, beekeepers, mushroom growers and vegetable farmers. He also asked the concerned officers to chalk out calendar for operationalising Mobile Soil Testing Vans so as to achieve full targets of soil sampling and testing under soil health card scheme.
