National-level painters’ camp begins at Kala Kendra

JAMMU: Evacuees Property Department in Collaboration with Kala Kendra Jammu organised a national-level Painters’ Camp to promote fading traditional, culture of the state. The Camp would continue till 5th October.
Soujanya Sharma, Director Local Bodies and Secretary Kala Kendra inaugurated the camp, coordinated by well known painter Rohit Verma amidst 12 artists who are participating in the camp. The participating painters are Yogesh Kasera, Vijay Anand, Rohit Verma, Sat Paul Deol, Suresh Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Manoj Chopra, Sahil Ohri , Renu Bala, Jaswinder Singh, Rahul Dogra and Ajay Kumar.
Soujanya Sharma informed that unlike contemporary camps, for this camp academically trained and skill oriented painters have been invited to work on folk marriage format of the pluralistic culture of the State. He said this would help to acquaint the coming generation with their rich legacy of yester years. Camp is with special emphasis aimed at striking communal harmony in the state, which is need of hour in this time.
