JAMMU: Various educational institutions celebrated Gandhi Jayanti-the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
Doon International School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti as the International Non-Violence Day spreading the message of brotherhood, sovereignty, secularism, harmony, truthfulness, dignity, respect, patience, love and equality as the need of the hour. The students of school presented a musical skit based on the victory of Ahimsa in today’s scenario where everyone looks forward for violent revengeful victory.
The students were dressed in the attire of ‘The Father of the Nation’ paying him tribute as his young messengers spreading awareness among the masses to imbibe and implement the Gandhian ideology for making this world a better place to live in.
The staff of the school also participated in the programme with great zeal and energy. Chairman G.N.Tantray and Principal Vikesh Kaur gave the students a message that if they implement Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology and philosophy in the real terms, it would be the greatest tribute to him on his birth anniversary.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School Satwari organised a programme on Gandhi Jayanti. Principal, M L Sharma, students and the staff members paid tributes to Gandhi. Later a cleanliness drive was also launched in the school. The programme was also marked by singing of patriotic songs, dances and poems by the students. The programme was conducted by Dr. Iffat Shah, Urdu lecturer.
NSS Units of GGM Science College, Jammu organised a peace rally in connection with the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti. The peace rally was flagged off by the Nodal Principal of Jammu Division College Dr. Ajeet Angral in the presence of Dr. Rajinder Singh and Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Programme Officers of the College. The rally passed through Canal Road, Bakshi Nagar, Medical College, K.C Theatre and Jewel Chowk finally culminated at G.G.M. Science College, Jammu. Nearly 100 volunteers participated in the rally. Principal asked the students to become real followers of Gandhi ji by following his teachings in a day to day life.
Students and staff members of Government Higher Secondary School, Dansal paid homage to Bapu ji on his birth anniversary who liberated nation from the bondage of slavery and spread message of non-violence in the entire world.
Vijay Kumar, Principal stated that non-violence and tolerance is not the weakness but it is real strength of a human-being. Students must project their talent and should come forward in fulfilling the dreams which Gandhiji left behind, he said. Swachh Vidyalya Abhiyan was carried out inside the institution.
Government Higher Secondary School Saruinsar celebrated Gandhi Jayanti. The student of school took peace march. The students also laid stress on maintaining peace and non-violence. Principal, Neeru Sachar emphasised the need for maintaining peace and developing tolerance among the youth of the modern era.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kandoli Nagrota celebrated Gandhi Jayanti. Cultural items were presented by the students. Principal, Santosh Kumari highlighted the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi for the independence and upliftment of the humanity in the whole world.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti a colourful programme was held in Government Higher Secondary School Sarwal. Skits and other cultural items were displayed in the programme.
The Nature’s Lap International School, Pouni celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The morals depicted by the three wise monkeys were shared among the students to inspire them to Speak no Evil, Hear no Evil, See no Evil in their daily lives. Principal, Meenakshi Sharma stressed upon the cleanliness drive. A quiz was also conducted on Mahatma Gandhi’s life.
