Inter-zonal girls U-19 meet of Jammu begins

JAMMU: Inter-zonal district level under-19 girls competitions of Jammu District, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), started on Tuesday at Government Higher Secondary School Domana, here.
The competition is being held in the disciplines of kho-kho, volleyball and kabaddi with all 14 zones of Jammu District competing for the top honours.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Child Development Project Officer Marh, Dr Sandeep Kumar Mottan in a well attended function. Speaking to the gathering of participants and officials he said that discipline, dedication and devotion are the main ingredients of sports by which one can excel at national and international levels.
Principal HSS Domana, Sandhra Malhotra was Guest of Honour. She wished all the participants success in the competition. Earlier, DYSS Officer Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma welcomed the gathering. He also gave the brief report of activities conducted by the department during the current year.
Meanwhile, two teachers of Marh Zone, Ujjwal Gupta and Pritam Lal (PET) were also felicitated on the occasion for their exceptional services in the field of sports.
Prominent among others present were ZPEOs, Sarita Pandha, Chanderkanta, Poonam Kotwal, Sher Singh, Jeet Singh and Jasbir Singh.

KABADDI: Gandhi Nagar beat Jammu Zone 14 points (29-15); Jammu Zone defeated Arnia Zone 12 pts (32-20); Akhnoor Zone trounced RS Pura by 8 pts (31-23). VOLLEYBALL: Akhnoor Zone blanked Jammu zone 2-0 ( 25-12, 25-17); Gandhi Nagar downed Bhalwal zone 2-0 (25-06, 25-16); Akhnoor zone outplayed Gandhi Nagar zone 2-0 (25-19, 25-16). KHO-KHO: Akhnoor Zone beat Jammu zone 6-1 pts; Khour Zone defeated Bishnah zone by one turn and 11 points; Bhalwal zone blanked Gandhi Nagar 11-03 pts.
