Wait for Ujala, we are out of stock

JAMMU: On Saturday several newspapers published an advertisement issued by Ministry of Power and Power Development Department of J&K urging people to switch over to use of LED bulbs and save money.
The advertisement, besides informing the consumers about the scheme and formalities, also published list of vendors from where LED bulbs could be procured.
But soon after consumers in different parts of Jammu started making random queries they were surprised and stumped to hear the response of the vendors.
Almost all of them unanimously responded to the consumers to wait for some more time as they were already dealing with a huge backlog of applications.
When consumers countered them why they had not been provided with stocks before publishing the advertisement and directing the common consumers to purchase the LED bulbs the common response of the vendors exposed the poor coordination at the government level.
“One of the vendors told STATE TIMES, “We were never consulted by those who are responsible for issuing these advertisements. We are flooded with calls since morning and I cannot handle them as I don’t have enough stocks in my inventory to supply to the consumers. I am telling all the consumers to contact me after September 15 as I cannot honour their request at present”.
Another vendor located on the outskirts of Jammu claimed the initial quota was exhausted and now he was waiting for the stocks before distributing them on demand. He claimed the State is targeted to sell 80 lakh LED’s and at present only 50,000 have been sold out. So there is no need to press panic buttons.
