Ganga for coordinated approach to address unemployment

KHOUR: The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga on Saturday pitched for focused and coordinated approach to overcome the problem of unemployment in the state.
“There is a need for focused attention with sound institutional arrangements and effective operational strategies for creating employment opportunities and enhancing employability” the minister said after inaugurating 21 days training programme under Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) organised by Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Devel-opment Institute (JK EDI) at Khour.
Highlighting the self employment schemes in vogue, Ganga said JK EDI with its targeted schemes like SKEWPY is aiming at stirring self employment ventures thus securing employment not only to the entrepreneurs but also skilled and semi skilled workforce.
Addressing the concern of deviation of loan money, the minister urged the budding entrepreneurs to understand the essence of government funded schemes and desist from such practices. He stressed that the responsibility of utilising government’s financial assistance lies with the beneficiary who should ensure timely loan repayment for establishing loan credibility for subsequent assistance.
The minister advised the participants to foster creativity and innovation, incorporate and adapts global best practices suitable to Indian scenario, to enhance socio-economic and cultural development of the rural areas in the state.
Ganga appreciated the efforts of JKEDI for taking entrepreneur training programmes to the doorsteps of people in Rajouri, Akhnoor and Reasi and directed them to replicate the same in other areas of the state.
Member of Legislative Assembly Chamb, Krishan Lal Bhagat, Sub Divisional Magistrate Khour, Vice Chairman Kisan Development Advisory Board, District Nodal Officer Jammu among others were present on the occasion.
