Power theft: PDD imposes hefty penalty on defaulters

VIJAYPUR : A huge penalty of Rs 50,000 has been imposed by the Power Development Department (PDD) upon defaulters in the case of power theft in Tehsil Vijaypur.
Due to frequent damage of 250 KVA transformers installed in Nizzo Mohalla, Teli Basti the XEn EM&RE Division Vijaypur constituted an inspection team under the supervision of AEE Sham Lal Sharma to find out the causes of its frequent burning and take action under rules.
The team comprising AE T.R Sharma, JE Ravi Khah and lineman staff during inspection recovered 10 cooking heaters, 100 illegal connections in Jhuggies and by-passing 15 energy meters. Stern action was taken against power theft and a penalty of Rs 50,000 was imposed under rules.
According to AEE T.R Sharma the drive will continue in future also.
He advised the public to regularize their connections immediately to avoid disconnection and penalty under rules.
