KATRA: In the Final match of the Invitational Volleyball Championship organised by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra in the Synthetic flood light Court, Garhi Club won the title defeating Charyai Volley ball Club in the Marathan rally of 4 games in the best of 5 sets.
Spikers Chander and Vivek helped the Garhi Club to maintain marginal lead in three sets while in the fourth set both helped their team to win the title. Aaquib and Dinesh of Charayi Club also displayed very good shots and defence throughout the competition which helped their team to win first set.
The final Score remained 17-25, 25-15, 25-23 and 25-22. Dr. M.K Kumar, Additional CEO, SMVDSB was the Chief Guest and Dr. Arvind Karwani was the Guest of Honour in the closing ceremony. The Chief Guest showered blessings on the winners, runner-up and appreciated the best offensive display by the both the teams.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports highlighted the forthcoming events which include open Invitational Kabaddi Championship, holding of rural festival and conduct of National Sports Talent contest to select the outstanding lot amongst the most younger players. Among others who present on the occasion were P.C Tanoch, Xen, Sanjeev Kotwal, Dy. Mgr, Sourab Khajuria, Som Raj Sharma, Manager Garhi Team, Shashi Sharma Coach cum Manager Charayai Club, Ashok Padha, Senior Vice President District Volleyball Association Udhampur.
Dr. Arvind Karwani also congratulated the winners.
The matches were officiated by the qualified Umpires, Manik Nagotra(VFI) and Kuldip Sharma.
Chief Guest also presented winning and runners up trophies to the team captains and prizes to the players of both the team.
