Congress holds Centre responsible for Kashmir unrest

JAMMU: State Congress unit expressed grave concern over the grim situation in the Valley, which is under curfew for the last 50 days with unrest and incidents of violence continuing unabated where more than 69 precious lives have been lost besides serious injuries to lot number of peoples, which are very unfortunate.
Expressing deep concern over the prolonged spell of the current unrest and failure of the State and Central Government to restore peace and normalcy even after 50 days, the Congress viewed that the current situation was the result of initial mishandling by the government.
Speaking in the meeting held here on Saturday, JKPCC President G.A Mir said that the State and Central Government lack any clear policy and road-map to effectively address the prevailing situation and restore lasting peace and normalcy.
The meeting viewed that Congress as a responsible political force, played an effective role both at the Central and in the State to strengthen the mainstream space, in the State and it would continue to play a constructive role of the unifying force in order to support any right move to find lasting peace and solution to the problem through dialogue with all stake holders of three regions in the State.
Mir also condemned Pakistan for fomenting trouble taking advantage of the situation and demanded immediate effective measures to end the current unrest in order to defeat the designs of inimical forces.
Mir complimented the people of Jammu region for rejecting all sorts of provocations and maintained peace and religious harmony during this crucial period.
He appealed to the people to remain vigilant and do not allow the communal and divisive and anti-national forces to take advantage of the current situation.
