JAMMU: The Samajik Vikas Sansthan (SVS), J and K, a Kashmiri Pandit Trust, has started work to restore the ancient temples and shrines in the Kashmir Valley, many of which have been encroached upon by the land mafia.
The Sansthan was founded by a Dr M.K Razdan and has taken up several projects for the renovation of the shrines and temples in the Kashmir Valley and Jammu.
Addressing a press conference, Trust Chairman Kuldeep Raina said the Sansthan for the last five years took up the work in respect of the renovation of Peer Pandit Padshah (Reshi Peer) Asthapan Aali Kadal, Srinagar, Gopi Tirath in the foothills of Zabarwan near Nishat Srinagar, Shiv Temple at Vichar Nag and Shri Nandkishore Asthapan Seer Jagir Sopore.
In addition to that, he said, the SVS constructed 10th Day Kriya Ghat at Muthi, Jammu. Various Shrine Committees met Dr. M.K Razdan and requested him for taking in hand the repair, renovation and construction of the building of Samaj Sudhar Trust at Tulmulla, Mata Bhuvaneshori Asthapani Chandpora, Har-wan, Sanatan Dharam Sabha Sopore, Sharika Foundation Muthi Jammu, KMCET, Jammu and J and Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Jammu, he said adding that SVS has entered into an understanding with Om Chandan Brahm-Putra Sanstha, Panjgrai, Jagti for old age home for which fïnancial, physical and consultative support shall be provided.
“We call upon the community members to come forward with support,” he said and demanded from government to provide security set up for safety of the temples which are a soft target of unscrupulous elements.
“We request the government to provide CRPF at every SHRINE for protection,” he said.
