Inter-college chess semifinals tomorrow

JAMMU: As a part of the ongoing inter-college competitions, the semifinals of both men and women shall take place on 26th August at Gymnasium Hall of the University of Jammu (JU), organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, here.
Earlier, in the last eight stages of the event, Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar, Post Graduate (PG) Departments and GDC Kathua won their respective matches in women section. Similarly, MIET College, Government MAM College, SPMR College of Commerce and GDC Paloura qualified for the semifinals stages of the event.
The Detailed Results:
WOMEN: GCW Gandhi Nagar team beat MIET 3-1: Shubhalee beat Shriya; Nayandeep defeated Princy Sharma; Sonali trounced Vishali Bhat; Manjusha Sharma lost to Robia Sudan. PG Departments blanked GCW Kathua 3.5-0.5 points: Mehak Bakshi beat Naina Gupta; Geetanjali defeated Reema Devi; Navneet Kour outplayed Arti Devi; Monika Thakur held Pranjali Sharma to draw. GDC Kathua got walkover. GCW Parade beat GDC Rajouri 4-0: Sushmita blanked Saba Mir; Sonali beat Nadia; Akriti trounced Saiqa; Hansja outplayed Sabreeya Parvez.
MEN: MIET beat GDC Ramnagar 3-1: Agrim defeated Rahul; Vikas blanked Rajesh Singh; Abhishek trounced Nirmal Sharma; Rajat lost to Sushant Gupta. MAM College downed GDC Udhampur 2.5 – 1.5: Sahil beat Ankush; Surinder Singh beat Raghuveer Singh; Akhil lost to Rahul Sharma; Rajat held Shivang Gupta to draw. SPMR College beat GDC Kathua 3 – 1: Vivek beat Akhil; Nikhil defeated Kapil; Ajitesh beat Sanjeev; Nitesh lost to Sudhanshu Khajuria. GDC Paloura got walkover. PG Departments trounced SPMR College of Commerce 3 – 1: Ishan beat Vivek; Kulveer defeated Nitish; Hiteshwar blanked Ajitesh; Sahil lost to Nikhil.
The matches were officiated by the technical team comprising SP Sharma and Sushil Sawhney under the supervision of PD Singh.
KHO-KHO: MEN: SPMR College of Commerce beat MAM College by 10 points (13-10). WOMEN: PG Departments beat GWC Gandhi Nagar by 03 points and one innings. GWC Parade defeated GDC Kathua by 09 points (12-03). The competition was officiated by the technical
penal including Anil Sharma, Anil Kumar, Ankush Sharma, Abhishek
Sharma, Ajeet Singh and Mohd. Israr under supervision of event inchrage, Gagan Kumar.
