JAMMU: Lhundup Dorojay of Government MAM College clinched the gold in men’s cross country event on the opening day of the annual inter-college competitions of University of Jammu (JU), organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education on the campus, here on Monday.
Second place went to Mohd Shafiq of Government Degree College (GDC) Rajouri while Zahoor Elahi of GDC Pooch remained third.
Earlier, the event was declared open by Registrar, University of Jammu, Prof. Keshav Sharma, who was Chief Guest in the cross-country event.
Others present included Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Dr Mandeep Singh, Balbir Singh, Rakesh Puri, Prof. Kamaljeet Singh, Vijay Kumari, Gagan Kumar, Narayani Jamwal, Harvinder Singh, Ashok Kumar, Malik Aijaz Iqbal, Mandeep Singh, Nirmal Singh and Harsimran Singh, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, PD Singh and Jai Bharat. KHO-KHO: Men: SPMR College of Commerce beat GGM Science College by 10 (11-01) points.
CHESS: GDC Kathua (Men) beat GDC Rajouri (M) 3-1: Sanjeev of GDC Kathua beat Umar Javed; Akhil of GDC Kathua defetaed Milkha Singh; Kapil of GDC Kathua trounced Vimal Thomson; Ashish of GDC Kathua lost to Sahil Kumar of GDC Rajouri. The match was officiated by the technical panel comprising S.P Sharma, Sushil Sawhney and P.D Singh. The match of women section will be played at 10:00 AM whereas men section matches will start at 1:00 PM at the same venue tomorrow.
