JAMMU: Divisional Comm-issioner Jammu, Pawan Kotwal along with Chief Executive Officer J and K ERA had a detailed inspection of flyover project. Other staff of ERA, its consultancies and representatives of contractor, were also present.
The ERA officials said that physical progress on the work is about 70 per cent and the work, which was likely to be completed by December 2016, may get delayed by one to two months because of damage to fourth bridge. With the closures of fourth bridge, shifting of precast girders from the casting yard at Bhagwati Nagar had got effected, as the vehicles carrying these girders, were being routed through fourth bridge only. At some spots, HT and LT lines are required to be shifted and PDD has already started the shifting work, they added.
Divisional Commissioner instructed ERA to maintain the roads along the project corridor so that commuter is not put to any inconvenience. Various options to accelerate the progress of projects and cover up the time lapse because of closing of bridge were also discussed.
The estimate cost of project is Rs. 71 crores and till date expenditure of 43.37 crores has already been incurred. The total length of flyover is 1.3 kms and will provide a two lane corridor each for both to and fro traffic.
