Problems related to unemployment in Kandi belt of Samba-Kathua

0 91

Dear Editor,
Through the medium of print media, I would like to highlight the problems of un-employment being faced by young generation of Kandi belt. It will not be out of place to mention here that at one point of time i.e (up-to 1980) 85-90 per cent men of the area were in the Indian Army. Now the unemployment is increasing day by day as this area is totally ignored from the employment point of view due which young generation is suffering badly. No recruitment drive has been conducted by army or police in Kandi belt of Jammu province for creation of recruitment avenues. Being army background, the young generation has committed to work in the army or police to serve the nation, if recruitment avenue is created for them through special recruitment drives by the army as well as police.
Since the eruption of militancy in the State, it has been seen that preference for generation of employment opportunity was given to the militancy infested area/border area where every year recruitment has been done by the police/army whereas this Kandi belt has totally been ignored one pretext or the other. It is established fact at this stage there is no source of income for young generation except the monthly income/salary of their elders who retired from the army.
Besides, most of their agriculture land situated at Sarwa, Trendia and Keranwali in Ramgarh area which was kept at the disposal of people of the area for cultivation purpose by their elders as they were away from their houses to serve the nation, the same has not been restored to them till date despite of the fact that said land still exists in their names which is great injustice. It is prayed to the administration to look into the above mentioned genuine issues of the Kandi belt and efforts should be made to redress the same at the earliest.
