KATHUA: Inter-zone district level tournament in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball for under 19 (boys and girls) being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports at Government Boys Higher Secondary School ground, here on Friday. The tournament is being held under the directions of Joint Director YSS Madan Lal and supervision of DYSSO Kathua Sunil Kumar. Meanwhile Kathua Zone emerged as overall champion by winning all three trophies viz Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball (Boys) and Hiranagar Zone remained runner up.
Earlier, In Kabaddi, Zone Hiranagar trounced Zone Bahsoli, Kathua outplayed Billawar and Hiranagar again thrashed Bani. In final Kathua register win over Hiranagar by 13 points. In Volleyball, Zone Hiranagar outplayed Zone Billawar by 2-0 sets, Bani fished out Billawar from tournament by 2-1 sets, Kathua trounced Billawar by 2-1 sets. In final match, Kathua thrashed Hiranagar by 2-1. In Kho-Kho, Kathua defeated Hiranagar by six points and in final Kathua thrashed Billawar by five points.
Today’s matches were officiated by Dharminder Singh Shally, Punjab Singh, Ashok Mangotra, Pardeep Singh, Kuldeep Sharma, Mandeep Singh and Jagdish Chand.
Activity Incharge Joginder Kumar Khajuria, ZPEO Pawan Kumar, Surinder Kour, Ganesh Dass, Mohan Lal Dub, Raghubir Puri and Sanjeev Sunny were also present.
Meanwhile, Inter District Division Level competitions of Roll Ball for U/14 and U/17 boys were held at Delhi Public School DPS Rajbagh. District Kathua registered win over district Samba by 6-2 in U-17. Similarly, in U-14 district Kathua thrashed district Jammu by 5-0.
The events were officiated by Pankaj Spolia, Parveen Singh, Naveen Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Balbir Singh. ZPEO Kailash Chander and Avnesh Kumar were also present.
Earlier, the events were inaugurated by I/C Principal DPS Rajbagh Manmita Dass Raina.
