JAMMU: Twenty one-year-old house-wife, identified as Shika Devi, wife of Ajay Kumar, resident of Rajpura, Samba ended her life, after poisoning her one year old son to death on Wednesday.
Both mother and son were immediately shifted to District Hospital Samba where doctors pronounced them both as brought
dead. Their bodies were handed over to the family after completing the legal formalities.
Samba Police have registered the case for investigation. The husband of Shika Devi has been arrested.
Shikha’s parents informed police that she became a victim of harassment by her in-laws, including her husband. Within the first few months of marriage, Shikha started facing ill treatment by her mother-in-law and her husband.
“Her husband Ajay Kumar, frequently used to find reasons for argument with Shikha,” family members told police, adding that the pressure rose so much that Shikha chose to end her life along with her baby boy named Harish.
Meanwhile, her husband has been detained for interrogation.
