JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh has said that the government has undertaken a holistic programme for ensuring development of the State on modern lines with special thrust on ensuring that the developmental initiatives are completed within the stipulated timelines and with the active participation of the local representatives and people of the respective areas. The Deputy Chief Minister was interacting with several deputations from across the state which called on him here today and projected several issues related to their respective constituencies and areas. Dr. Singh said that ever since the government took over it has been its endeavour to fast pace the implementation of various programmes and initiatives by ensuring their regular monitoring and also getting the feedback from the people and officers about the status of their implementation. The Dy CM said that measures are underway to augment the power infra by way of several flagship programmes which would ensure that people get 24×7 power supply in the coming years. He said that special focus would also be on electrifying the un-electrified hamlets by taking them under DDUGVY. The Deputy Chief Minister said that under Housing and Urban Development sector various central and state sponsored schemes have been undertaken which would ensure that the urban and semi-urban landscape gets a new look besides people would also get the requisite and modern facilities of urban living.
