Vehicle lifter held, 4 bikes recovered

JAMMU: Gangyal Police on Thursday arrested a vehicle lifter, who is also an absconder, and recovered four motorcycles on his disclosure.
According to report, police team from Gangyal Police Station under operation ‘Avtar’, initiated by SSP Jammu Sunil Gupta laid a special Naka headed by SHO Gangyal Inspector Aijaz Wani at Bandhu Rakh near Air Force Station. At the Naka, one motorcyclist was signaled to stop but he tried to flee and was consequently chased and nabbed near Ranjit College.
During the scrutiny of the documents, it was found that bike which he was travelling (JK21-2164) was stolen from Model Town Gangyal few days back. He has been identified as Sanjeev Kumar, son of Bachan Lal resident of Ward No. 7 R.S Pura.
During sustained interrogation and questioning he confessed the theft of three more bikes including JK02S-3059 Passion from Gangyal Garden, JK02BC-1304 stolen from Agra Chak R.S Pura, Splendor having Engine No. JAQ5ECE9F26714 Chasis No. MBLJQ5E9F26443 stolen from Ward No. 7 R.S Pura, which were accordingly recovered on his disclosure.
A total of four cases of motor vehicle theft has been worked out with this recovery including FIR Nos.77/16 and 80/16 of Police Station Gangyal and two FIR of Police Station R.S Pura.
Sanjeev is a habitual vehicle lifter and is an absconder from Police Station R S Pura and Police Station Satwari. More recoveries are likely to be made. The arrest was made by the SHO Gangyal under the supervision of Sachin Gupta, SDPO City South and Shazaad Salaria, SP City South.
