Reckless driving on the city roads
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I wish to draw kind attention of the concerned authority and general public towards the increasing incidents of road accidents.
Road accidents are a frequent feature of newspapers which are on rise especially in the cities and hilly areas. In rural areas, road accidents may have different causes like bad road conditions but in cities there is only one reason which is the most critical one and that is the reckless driving. Most of the road accidents result due to this.
Persons sitting on steering do not have control over it. They even do not have any regard for the traffic rules or traffic cops. Over-speeding, jumping red lights, overtaking from wrong side are a common site. In most of the cases they escape unpunished due to their social status and corrupt bureaucracy.
Every year, large number of people die in road accidents. It is one of the biggest reasons of unnatural deaths in India. So the time has come to develop a movement against reckless driving. I hope the civic authorities and civilised people will pay heed to my request.
